Saline Aquifers: Lower Cretaceous, Northern Great Plains aquifer system

This map displays dissolved-solids concentrations in water from Lower Cretaceous aquifers in the Northern Great Plains aquifer system. The Lower Cretaceous aquifers contain freshwater only proximate to where the aquifers receive recharge. Dissolved-solids concentration in the water is largest in the deep parts of the Powder River and Williston Basins. Data source: USGS Groundwater Atlas.
