BSCSP GIS: Phase III Regional characterization

In Phase III, the Partnership will expand and refine its Phase II regional characterization of carbon sinks, sources, infrastructure and capacity estimates. Additionally, Phase III efforts will focus on developing more detailed characterizations of the subsurface geologic features such as faults, fractures, aquifer salinity, rock type, permeability, porosity, thickness and areal extent.
Regional characterization activities will include: acquiring and analyzing new data; field measurements, refining capacity estimates; and collaboration and data sharing with other Partnerships, industry and agencies.

The spatial Data Libraries and Carbon Atlas will increasingly be leveraged in support of both the geologic and terrestrial components of this characterization work.
